How to Apply Clip in Hair Weave Extensions:

Practice opening and closing the clip: With the clip side of the piece facing you, put both thumbs on each side of the clip and the index fingers at the front side of the piece. Snap the clip open by applying pressure toward yourself with the index fingers. Similarly, close the clip by applying pressure away from yourself with the thumbs.

Practice snapping on hair: Using one of the 1 1/2" side pieces, practice attaching and removing the extension piece.

Separating the hair: Using a tail comb or your index fingers, practice parting the hair where you wish to attach the first extension.

Start the first part: Raquel Welch clip-in extensions should be attached from the bottom up. Starting at the lowest point on the hairline, and using a tail comb or your index fingers, creates a part where you wish to section off the hair.

Finishing the first part: Move the tail comb or your index fingers under the hair and along the scalp until the hair is separated from the right to the left hairline.

Clip up the hair above the part: Lift up all the hair above the part and clip it out of the way.

Prepare the first weft: Select one of the wider "back" wefts (if working with a complete kit, us the 6" width weft) and snap open all the clips.

Placement of the first weft: The clips should be placed on your own hair below the part so that the top of the weft is even with the part.

Placement of the first clip: The middle clip should be place first by locating at the middle of the nape. Place the clip on your hair just below the part. Moving the clip downward, catch your hair in the clip and snap it shut.

Placement of the second clip: The right clip is next. Holding the middle clip in place with your left hand, use your right hand to move the right edge of the weft as far as it will go around your head. As above, place the clip on your hair just below the part, and moving the clip downward, catch your hair in the clip and snap it shut.

Placement of the third clip: Finally, to attach the left clip, hold the middle clip in place with your right hand, and use your left hand to move the left edge of the weft as far as it will go around your head. As in the previous two steps, place the clip on your hair just below the part, and moving the clip downward, catch your hair in the clip and snap it shut.

Check for gaps: Now that all three clips are attached, run your fingers along the weft to make sure it lies flat against your head along the entire width. If there are any gaps, correct this by snapping the clip open, lifting it off hair and repositioning it so that the weft lies flat.

Preparing to place the second weft: This weft will be placed above the first weft. Release all the hair that was clipped out of the way in step six. Then, slightly above the weft that was just attached, make another part-as explained in steps 4 through 6.

Placing the second weft: Repeating steps 7-12, attach the next weft. To complete a style, follow steps 4-12 for each weft attached. (When working with a complete kit, start at the lowest point with the two 6" wefts, then attach the 7" weft, and finally the 8" weft.)

Placement of the side wefts: The four 1 1/2" wefts are meant to be attached to the sides of your head. Using two for each side, attach the first one just above the ear and the second one around the temple area.

Removing the wefts To remove a weft, snap open all the clips and gently lift up and away from your hair. Never try to remove a weft without first opening all the clips. Pulling or tugging to remove a weft can result in damage to your own hair.

Hair extensions are a creation of several innovative techniques that may be used separately or in combination with each other to add length and fullness to your existing hair. I use methods that insure no or minimal damage to the client’s own hair. Quality and care of the hair extension and the client’s hair is a number one priority.

Quality of Hair

Quality of hair is an extremely important factor as to how “real” your hair extension will look. While many places claim to use only “100% human hair”, they fail to realize or tell you that 90% of the human hair available is from China or Korea which is very poor quality because of the processing methods. During processing the hair is heavily stripped and the cuticle layer is inverted which damages the hairs' natural protective coating. It is further processed to imitate the colors, curl, and texture of Caucasian hair since a lot of people don't have straight, black, course hair. This damages the hair so much that by the time you wear it, the hair is dull, lifeless, and will not last a long time. This hair also has a tendency to tangle and matte extensively.

The latest trend in the type of hair being used for extensions is Indian Remy hair. Remy hair is used for most bonding and interlock systems today. While this type of hair is better than the typical manufactured human hair, it still goes through an extensive process and does not meet my top quality standards.

I use only 100% European, Italian and/or Russian blended hair. This premium quality hair can be custom-blended to match texture, color, and wave pattern desired. It is virgin, healthy hair that will remain glossy and full of life for an average of 6-14 months with proper maintenance. As all hair tends to dry out, it is an absolute must that the Maintenance Care Instructions be followed, which include using the proper products and tools.

Methods of Attachment

Hair weaving is a traditional method of attaching hair extensions. I prefer to use my own version of this method because there is virtually no damage to the client’s own hair when done properly. The hair comes in a “weft” form and can be made into as many pieces as necessary. Each piece is blended as thick or thin as needed to match the client’s existing hair. A “track” is formed by weaving a bond of small sections of your natural hair inter-twining with numerical combinations of thread to form a locked base system at the roots of your hair. The hair wefts are attached to the track. My technique is flat, not bulky, and not easily detectable like traditional weaves. It also has enough support so your own hair is not weakened. Most clients require only 1 or 2 tracks to achieve their desired result. The weaving process is usually completed in 2-4 hours depending on the amount of hair attached. Hair weaving generally lasts 4-8 weeks before a retightening is needed.

For clients who prefer not to have wefted hair, I use a pre-bonded protein-keratin bonding system. With this system, small pieces of hair are individually bonded onto the client’s own hair at the root. The bonding system lasts up to 3 months. This system is great for adding streaks, funky colors, or color blocks or in "certain" situations. Generally, I dissuade clients from using this to add volume and length or grow their own hair out. In my 17+ years of experience with hair extensions, I have seen too many clients come from other places with substantial breakage and damage from this method. I have thoroughly researched 99% of the systems out there and find the quality of hair is just not up to the standard I demand. Along with the high incidence of damage to the clients' own hair, I feel that this is not the answer in most cases.

I also make removable hair extensions using wefted hair with clips or an invisible wire. This is also visually undetectable and is great for client’s who travel extensively, live out-of-town, or just don’t want to be bothered with maintenance. Wefted hair extensions can be alternated between weaving and a removable system at any time.

Pricing

Pricing depends on what I need to do, how much hair is needed, method of attachment, etc. Every hair extension is custom designed and blended for your specific situation. It's very difficult to determine price when I haven't seen you and your hair. This is why I offer free consultations with no obligation.

Shopping for extensions by price alone can end up causing a lot of frustration and disappointment. It may end up costing more money in the long run too. You should also consider quality of the hair, the person's experience, and several other factors which are listed in my article posted under the Articles button on my website. Cheapest is not the best and usually gives an unrealistic look and feel - and at worst, damages your hair. I'm not saying the most expensive hair extensions are the best. There are also people who charge a lot of money that don't deliver high quality. My point is, if you're going to shop around, it is in your best interest to see for yourself what is being offered and to consider and compare all the factors along with the price.

They last 4-6 weeks with proper care and can be easily removed and reused.

Keraloc © hair extensions: involves a human hair weft. A tiny hook tool is used to pull a small but secure amount of your natural hair through the weft and then add a tight, silicone, waterproof , heat activated seal around the keratin protein bond. This is repeated every half an inch around the weft. This way the weight of the extension is evenly distributed through your whole head Keraloc hair extension will grow out and need to be uplifted every 10 to 12 weeks or 8 weeks if your hair is fine or fragile. The hair extensions can be re–used, as long as you have looked after it will the correct shampoo/conditioner and styling products. This system has been developed and copyrighted by Hot Hedz.

Glam hair extensions: is a new technique which uses the finest quality of hair! Highlights include safe, fast, easy and full and flawless look not to mention a completely flat and reusable base which is easy and safe to wear and maintain. It is attached simply with a special medical grade tape and holds for 2-4 months. This method is actually a two sided tape method, where the tape sits on a polyurethane base and is placed on the client's hair just below the scalp. It is available in many different colors and textures and special orders are made per request.

Bonded hair extensions: The weft is applied with adhesive to your hair or to your skin depending on salon and stylist. For some people it will last for many weeks and for others it loosens up after the first shampoo. This method is faster and therefore less expensive than strand by strand extensions.

Braided hair extensions: First a braid is created of your own hair and than the weft is sewn onto the braid. The number of tracks depends on what you want.

Weaved hair extensions: It is done by weaving your own hair around a number of threads. This way a track is created. The weft is sewn onto this track.

Braiding and weaving give more tension to your hair and skin because it is tight and therefore will pull more. The extensions stylist should braid the tracks firmly but comfortably, it should not hurt. Some clients complain about being uncomfortable and having headaches using these systems, others have no complains at all.
